Smart Auditor answers questions about your company's books in plain English, from profit and GST to overdue invoices. It can also draft an invoice, bill, client or vendor for you to approve. This article walks through asking a question and working with the answer.
Before you start
Smart Auditor needs a Plus, Pro or Max plan. Without one it shows Smart Auditor is paused: you can still read saved chats, but you can't ask anything new.
Ask a question
- Click Smart Auditor in the sidebar, then New chat.
- Under What can I help you with?, click one of the suggestions, or type your own question in the box at the bottom.
- Press Enter, or click the send button. Use Shift+Enter for a new line.
Smart Auditor shows what it's doing while it works. To stop an answer part-way, click the stop button (Stop generating). If something goes wrong, click Try again under the error to put your question back in the box.
What you can ask
Ask about anything in your books, for example:
- "Show me this month's P&L summary" or "What's my net profit this year?"
- "What invoices are overdue right now?" or "List all unpaid purchase invoices"
- "How much GST do I owe this quarter?"
- "What's my accounts receivable aging?"
- "Who are my top 5 clients by revenue?" or "Top vendors by total spend this FY"
- "Compare this year vs last year revenue"
- "Predict next month's cash flow"
Type / in the box for shortcuts: Dashboard, Sales Invoices and Google Drive open in a panel beside the chat, and Financial Summary asks for a full financial summary.
Read the answer
- Charts and tables — answers often include them. Click an invoice number, account, client or vendor in a table to open it in a side panel.
- Reports — a report you ask for comes as a file card. Click Download to save it as PDF or Excel.
- Financial reports — ask for one, such as "Generate a financial report for March", and it opens in a panel beside the chat. From there you can change the period, Export as PDF, Export as Excel, Print report or Refresh data.
- Questions back to you — if Smart Auditor needs more detail, it asks in a Question card. Pick an option or type your answer, then click Submit answers.
Under each answer, click Helpful or Not helpful to rate it, or Copy to copy the text.
Approve a draft
Ask something like "Draft an invoice like the last one I sent" or "Add a new vendor to my books". Smart Auditor replies with a draft card.
- Click Review to see exactly what will be created.
- Click Approve to create it, or Discard to drop it.
Nothing is added to your books until you approve. A card with several drafts offers Review all and Approve all.
Schedule a check
Ask Smart Auditor to run a check regularly, such as a weekly overdue-invoice summary. It replies with a schedule card showing when it will run. Click Schedule to confirm or Cancel. Find your schedules under Scheduled → All schedules in the Smart Auditor panel.
Tips
- Smart Auditor works on the company you're in. Switch company to ask about another one.
- Each plan includes a yearly fair-use allowance of questions, larger on Pro and Max. When you're close to it, a banner shows how much is left.
- Click the microphone (Voice input) to speak your question, if your browser supports it.
