Templates are ready-made Excel workbooks in the layout SmartLedger reads best. Use one when you have many records to bring in at once, such as last year's sales register. Fill it in, upload it to SmartUploads, and check every row before anything is created.

              Pick a template

              1. Go to SmartUploads → Templates.

              2. Choose a template:

Combined Sales + Purchase keeps sales and purchase invoices in one workbook, with an Invoices sheet and an Invoice Payments sheet. Under All templates you'll also find focused formats such as Payments and Receipts and Journal Entries. Use Quick Filters or Search templates... to narrow the list.

              3. Not sure which one fits? Click Help me choose. Pick what you're importing under Select a workflow, click Continue, answer whether to include payments, and click Show recommendation. The panel explains Why this template suits you.

              Download and fill it in

              1. Click Preview (or Preview workbook) to see the sheets, the columns and an example row. Required columns are marked Required.
              2. Click Download (or Download template). An XLSX file downloads with your data sheets and an Instructions sheet.
              3. Fill in the workbook and save it, keeping the XLSX format.

Follow these rules from the Instructions sheet so the upload maps cleanly:

              • Keep every sheet name and column heading exactly as provided.
              • Fill in every column marked with a dot. Rows missing a required value are flagged during review.
              • Enter dates as DD-MM-YYYY and amounts as plain numbers, with no ₹ sign or commas.
              • Put one record per row, starting at row 2. Overwrite the sample row with your own data.

              Upload the completed template

              1. On the Templates page, click Upload completed template. SmartUploads opens with the file picker ready.
              2. Choose your filled-in workbook.
              3. When it has been read, its row shows the type Bulk Import. Click Review to open the import wizard.
              4. Work through Set up sheets, Journal entries, Edit & validate and Review & create. SmartLedger checks every row and shows what needs fixing.

Records are created only when you finish the last step. Nothing is posted to your books before then.

              Tips

              • Templates marked Coming soon can't be downloaded yet.
              • Uploading a spreadsheet uses pages from your plan's SmartUploads allowance, like any other upload.
