The Balance Sheet is a snapshot of your financial position on a date: assets on one side, equity and liabilities on the other. The two totals must always match.

              Open the balance sheet

              1. Click Reports in the sidebar.
              2. Choose Financial, then Balance Sheet.

              Choose the date

The balance sheet shows balances as on the last day of the period you pick. It opens on This Financial Year, so it is as on the year's 31 March.

              1. Click the date picker at the top of the amount column.
              2. Choose a period. Today gives balances as on today, and so does All Time.
              3. For a particular date, choose Custom Date, end the range on that date and click Apply.

Only the end date matters. The start of the period doesn't change any balance. The line under the title shows the date the balance sheet is as on.

              Read the balance sheet

              • EQUITY AND LIABILITIES — your capital and other equity accounts, then liability accounts such as loans and accounts payable, ending with Total Equity and Liabilities.
              • Current Year Earnings — the profit or loss of the financial year the date falls in.
              • Previous Years' Earnings — the profit or loss of all earlier years.
              • ASSETS — bank and cash, receivables, stock, fixed assets and other assets, ending with Total Assets.

Balances include the opening balances you entered. Accounts with a zero balance are hidden, and a dash means zero.

If the two totals don't match, a red message appears: Warning: Unbalanced Balance sheet. Assets must equal Liabilities + Equity. Open the Trial Balance for the same date to see the difference.

              Compare with another date

              1. Click +Compare beside the balance sheet.
              2. In the new column's date picker, choose the period whose end date you want to compare with, for example Last Financial Year.

A Change +/- column shows the difference in ₹ for every line and for both totals. To go back to one date, click the red close button next to the comparison date (Remove comparison).

              Export the balance sheet

              1. Click the export icon at the top right.
              2. Choose Download as CSV or Export As PDF.

The file uses the date on screen, plus the comparison if you've added one, and is headed with your company name and GSTIN.
