A direct Google Drive connection lets you browse your Drive from inside SmartLedger and send bills, invoices or receipts to SmartUploads whenever you need to. Nothing moves until you choose it. If you would rather have new files picked up on their own, use folder sync instead.
Before you start
- Google Drive is included on the Plus plan and above. On a lower plan, the Google Drive tile shows a PLUS badge.
- If you use an ad blocker, turn it off for SmartLedger. The app warns that integrations may not work properly with one on.
Connect your Google account
Open Smart Integrations from the sidebar.
Click New Integration and choose Google Drive. If Google Drive is already in your list, click its row instead.
Under Direct connection, click Add direct.
Enter an Integration Name and click Create.
The name can use letters, numbers, spaces, hyphens and underscores.
In Your Google Drive connections, click Connect on the new row.
Sign in to Google and allow access.
You come back to SmartLedger with the message "Google Drive connected as" followed by your Google email.
You can add more than one direct connection, for example one per Google account.
Upload files to SmartUploads
On the Google Drive page, click Browse Drive on a connected row.
Open folders by clicking them. Use Root in the folder path to go back to the top, or Search files and folders to find something.
Tick the files or folders you want.
Click Upload Selected.
To send a single item, open its row menu and choose Upload to Smart Upload.
In Upload to Smart Upload, click × on anything you don't want, then click Start Upload.
When you see Upload complete, click Go to Smart Uploads, or Upload more files to stay in Drive.
Picking a folder uploads the files inside it. Each file is then read in SmartUploads and waits for your review like any other upload.
Manage your connections
- Files you have already sent show an Uploaded badge. If you select one again, it appears under Already uploaded. Click Re-upload to send it again.
- On the Google Drive page, the row menu has Edit to rename a connection, Refresh status to check it, and Delete to remove it and its history.
- The Method filter switches between All methods, Direct only and Folder sync only.
Tips
- If a connection shows Not connected, click Connect and sign in to Google again.
- Removing Google Drive from the Smart Integrations list when you have several connections lets you choose Manage Drive Integrations or Remove All Integrations.
