Work is your firm's task board. Track filings, reviews and other client jobs on Kanban boards, see who is holding what, and bill clients for the hours your team logs.

              Before you start

              • Work is included in CA Pro and CA Max.
              • Firm admins create and configure boards. Everyone else works on the boards they can see.
              • Add at least one client company in Practice before you add tasks.

              Create a board

              1. Go to Work and click New board.
              2. Enter the Board name, for example Audit season or GST notices.
              3. Leave it as a firm-wide board, or switch on Private board so only you and firm admins can see it.
              4. Click Create board.

A new board starts with four lanes: To-Do, In Progress, In Review and Done. To rename, add, reorder or remove lanes, open the board and click Configure. A board keeps between two and eight lanes.

On a private board, use Share with to add admins and managers, and set whether Shared members can Add & edit tasks or have View only access.

              Add a task

              1. Click New task.
              2. Enter the Task Name and, optionally, a Description.
              3. Choose the Client and who to Assign To. Only teammates with access to that client are listed.
              4. Set the Deadline, the Priority (High, Medium or Low) and the Status, which is the lane.
              5. To bill the work, switch on Billable to client and enter the Hours spent and Billing rate (₹/hr).
              6. Click Create task.

Each task gets a ticket ID made of your firm's initials and a number, such as AC123. Team members without billing access see the billable switch and hours, but not the rate.

              Work the board

              • Drag a card to another lane to change its status.
              • Switch between Board and Table views.
              • Filter by Due, Priority, Status or Client, or click a teammate's avatar to see only their tasks.
              • Search by ticket ID, title, client or assignee.
              • Click a card to see its details and activity. Click Edit Task to change it, or copy the task's link to share it.

              Bill clients for the work

Work → Client billing is for firm owners and admins.

              1. Under Work in progress, find the client. You see their unbilled tasks, hours and WIP value.
              2. Click Raise invoice. Every billable task for that client that hasn't been billed yet goes onto one fee invoice.
              3. When the client pays, find the invoice under Fee invoices raised from Work and click Mark paid.

The cards at the top show Ready to bill, Receivables and Unbilled tasks. Fee invoices are tracked here in Work; raising one doesn't create a sales invoice in any company's books.

              Tips

              • Work → Overview shows Open tasks, Overdue, Due this week and Ready to bill, a summary of each board, the tasks due next and each teammate's open tasks.
              • To delete a board, open Configure, click Delete board and confirm. It moves to Settings → Archives, where it can be restored for 90 days. A firm always keeps at least one board.
